N. Carolina Athletic Director to Step Down: USA Today reports that just one day after UNC football coach Butch Davis was fired, the university announced that AD Dick Baddour will resign.  At Thursday morning’s press conference, UNC also announced that Butch Davis was not likely being fired for cause, and his dismissal will cost the school $2.7 million dollars.  The firing of Davis and resigning of Baddour come amid a year-long investigation by the NCAA.

Jalen Rose Going to Prison for Drunk-Driving:  The New York Times reports that former NBA player, and current ESPN analyst Jalen Rose will serve 20 days in prison for a March drunk-driving crash near Detroit.  Rose plead guilty to driving while intoxicated in May.  He drank six martini’s before crashing his car on a snowy road.

NBA and Players to Resume Talks Monday: SI.com reports both sides in the NBA lockout have agreed to resume renegotiating a new collective bargaining agreement starting next week. Anonymous sources say this will be the first meeting to include Commissioner David Stern, union executive director Billy Hunter, president Derek Fisher, and owners. The talks are supposed to be confidential. The NBA lockout officially started on June 30.
