NFL Owners Possibly To Vote Thurday: SI.com reports that Atlanta Falcons owner Arthor Blank said Thursday that it was his understanding that the owners would have the opportunity to approve a new collective bargaining agreement today.  The league also indicated that it hoped to have the deal approved on Thursday.  Currently, owners are discussing the NFL schedule, rookie salary system, and new free agency rules.

Department of Education Sued Over Title IV:  The Associated Press reports that a group of coaches, parents and others are suing the Department of Education over how it determines Title IV compliance.  The American Sports Council says the current method will lead to quotas and the elimination of boys’ sports teams.  Title IV is a federal law designed to eliminate sex discrimination in schools.

Benson’s Lawyers Claim Extortion:  ESPN.com reports that lawyers for Cincinnati Bengal, Cedric Benson, say the man he allegedly assaulted is threatening to do media interviews if there is no settlement.  Lawyers for the assault victim said he was, “disheartended and puzzled” by the statement.  Benson was arrested in downtown Austin, TX and charged with misdemeanor assault with bodily injury and family violence.
